How to load your skip

So, you’ve decided on the size of skip you want to hire and whether you want to use our roll-on roll-off service, but now what?

Well the next step is to think about how best to load the skip for collection, maximising the amount of waste you can dispose of in a way that’ll work out for both you and us when we come to collect it.

Here are some tips that’ll help you to fill your skip efficiently:

  • Put flat items into the skip first; things like worktops, doors, fence panels or any large floorboards

  • After that load bulkier items into the skip, so they’ll sit on top of the flat items and not move around too much

  • Make sure you break up or crush any smaller items, such a small items of furniture or smaller wooden panels before adding them to the skip

  • Finally add the remaining, smallest items to the skip

  • Try and leave as few air pockets as possible

Remember to also check what materials you are planning to put in the skip as certain items are prohibited from being recycled in this way, these include:

  • Gas bottles or cannisters

  • Fridges, freezers or air conditioning units

  • Tyres

  • Paint or paint cans
